Well, why not open your residence to film loving strangers for couchfest 2008?

Share your unshakable fever for film with other compulsive cinephiles! Couchfest 2008 is currently looking for Seattleites who are willing to open their home to host a short film program for this one day community film event.

You could be an honored host of a 30-minute shorts film program that will play every hour from 11am to 7pm.

When is Couchfest Films?

Right now Couchfest is going to be the Saturday, September 27th, 2008.

How long will Couchfest be?

Couchfest will start at 11am and run until 6pm.

What if I want to go see the amazing short films?

Well, of course you'll want to go see the other films. You obvsiouly have good taste in films and film fests. All hosts will be given a screener from each of the other houses to watch on their on time. This way you won't miss out.

What am I expected to do?

Oh, this is where it gets interesting. You are, first, suppose to enjoy yourself. To host, you should be excited about opening your glorious residency to film lovers. On the day of the event, a new set of film lovers will be coming to your house every hour. They will watch a 30 minute program of short amazing movies. There will be a 10 minute intermission. At a basic level, you should have a TV and a DVD player. Other than that, it's up to you. Some houses are excited about hosting and have developed themes. Some houses are considering serving homemade lemonade. It's really up to you. Show off.

How many people will be in the house each hour?

Good question. There will be anywhere from five people to the absolute max of twenty respectful people ready to watch films in your dandy house.

Can I sell food or drinks?

We thought about this question. We wondered if it might feel a little tacky selling things to people. But, if you wanted to have a yard sale in front of your house while hosting, well, that would be pretty rad. So, if you aren't sure, just drop us a specific question.

Will I get paid?

We aren't charging a submission fee to film makers and we will only be charging a very low admission fee. For the first year, we will be honored for film loving citizens to be a part of this inaugural event. But, honestly, for the first year, we can't afford to pay you to host. On the other hand, we will provide a unique day, one couchfest T-shirt and one copy of the Couchfest films 2008 highlights DVD.

Can I still submit a film?

We probably shouldn't let you but yes you can still submit your film to Couchfest films 2008. If your film is selected we can't be sure that you will host your for own film. But, we can discuss that when we get there.

Can I keep what I find under my couch pillows

We can only hope you find bizarre and uniqe couch treasures at the end of the day.
